A lot of Swadlincote's working vehicles never go far. Mining ended when the last colliery closed in 1993, and much of the town's work now comes from light manufacturing and service companies on its large industrial estates, from the shops in the town centre and at the retail park, and from trades and businesses spread across Woodville, Newhall, Midway and Church Gresley. Vans, light commercials and rigids carry most of it, and when one of them develops a fault, bringing it to the fitter is often more trouble than bringing the fitter to it.
Repairs where the vehicle is parked
Our technicians come to the unit, the yard or the kerb outside your premises with the tools and common parts for the jobs that stop vehicles most often: leaking air couplings, damaged suzies and valves; lamps, connectors and wiring; charging and battery problems; damaged tyres and wheels; trailer coupling faults; and many brake faults found at the walkaround. When the cause isn't obvious, we diagnose it on the spot before changing anything.
The best time to do this is often the gap between shifts. A defect noted at the end of the day can be repaired that evening or early the next morning, with the repair written down against the driver's defect report. That link between report and repair is what DVSA expects to see, and the vehicle is ready when the driver clocks on.
Planned visits, not only emergencies
Mobile work suits known faults too. If an inspection left an advisory, or a van has a fault that isn't urgent but needs doing, we can come out at a time that suits your schedule rather than taking the vehicle off the road for a workshop day. If you have several vehicles on one site, the jobs can be saved up for a single visit, and out-of-hours slots are possible where that keeps vehicles earning.
Some work needs the vehicle on lifts: major components, structural repairs and anything that calls for specialist equipment. Where that is the case we tell you before we start, rather than attempting something at the kerbside that won't last, and either book the vehicle into our Melbourne workshop, open for planned work Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 17:00, or recover it if it isn't safe to drive.
Ring 01332 916028 with the registration, the fault, where in Swadlincote the vehicle is and how we get to it. Repeat faults on the same vehicle are a sign it needs a closer look at its next service or inspection, and we will tell you when we see a pattern forming.
