Saving the trip out of town
For a vehicle based in Loughborough, a workshop visit means a run out along the A512 to the motorway, hours off the road and a driver who isn't driving. Many faults don't justify that. A failed lamp, a leaking air coupling, a chafed wire behind the rear cluster or a trailer connection that won't seat properly can all be put right where the vehicle is parked, and that is what our mobile service is for.
We work wherever the vehicle happens to be: a yard in Shepshed, a site in one of the villages along the A6 corridor towards Syston, a customer's premises on the edge of town, or a lay-by where a driver has pulled over with a warning light. Our vans carry tools, common parts and consumables, so most visits are spent fixing rather than looking.
Defects from the morning walkaround
A large share of mobile work starts with a driver's daily check. A lamp out, a damaged suzie, a tyre with a cut in the sidewall or an air leak heard as the system builds pressure: each has to be put right before the vehicle goes back out. Ring us as soon as it is reported and we will arrange to come to your Loughborough yard, ideally while the vehicle isn't needed, so the repair costs as little of the working day as possible.
Every repair is written up so it lines up with the defect report. DVSA expects to see that reported defects were dealt with, and a record tying the two together is what shows it.
What gets fixed on the spot
Air systems, brakes, electrics and lighting, tyres and wheels, and the couplings between unit and trailer make up most of our on-site work. Where a fault isn't obvious, the technician diagnoses it before reaching for parts, because fitting the wrong component in a car park is no cheaper than fitting it in a workshop.
When Melbourne is the better place
Not every job belongs on the tarmac. Major components, structural repairs and anything that needs the vehicle on lifts are done at our workshop at Calke Mill Farm, Melbourne, open for planned work Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00. If we think a yard repair won't last, we say so, and either recover the vehicle or book it in at a time that suits you.
Booking a visit
Tell us the registration, what the driver found, where in or around Loughborough the vehicle is parked and how we get access, and when it next needs to be working. Known faults and inspection advisories can be planned in advance, out of hours if that keeps the vehicle earning. For something that has just failed, the line is answered at any hour on 01332 916028.
