Why mobile work suits Chesterfield
Our workshop is at Melbourne, south of Derby, and Derby itself is 24 miles south of Chesterfield. For a Chesterfield operator with a lamp out or an air leak, sending the vehicle all that way and back would waste most of a day. It makes far more sense for us to come to the vehicle, and that is exactly what the mobile service is built for.
A technician turns up with diagnostic equipment, the tools for the job and a stock of the parts we fit most often. Plenty of the faults that keep commercial vehicles off the road need nothing more: chafed air pipes and leaking couplings, failed lamps and wiring, corroded connectors, batteries and charging faults, and damaged tyres.
The estates we visit
Chesterfield still has a larger share of manufacturing jobs than the national average, even after losing a third of them since 1991. Sheepbridge, the largest industrial estate in the town, is home to insulation, felt and other manufacturing businesses, and Holmewood business park, Spire Walk Business Park and the 40-acre Chesterfield Waterside development add to the mix. Further out, Markham Vale sits at junction 29a, and Staveley, Brimington and Clay Cross have yards and premises of their own. We work at operators' sites across all of these.
Walkaround defects before the next shift
The jobs that suit mobile repairs best are often the ones a driver finds on the morning walkaround or reports at the end of a shift. Those defects must be put right before the vehicle goes back out, and that can mean a lost day while you wait for a workshop. If you ring us when the defect is reported, we can usually arrange to fix it in your yard, out of hours if that keeps the vehicle working, with the repair written up so it matches the defect sheet.
The roadside as well
The same vans deal with faults on the move. If a vehicle has stopped safely on the M1, the A61 or the A617 with a problem we can fix, the repair happens there. Ring 01332 916028 at any hour.
When it really needs the workshop
Some jobs shouldn't be done in a car park or at the kerb. Major component changes, structural repairs and anything that needs the vehicle on lifts belong under cover. If we reach that point, we say so at once and explain why, then either recover the vehicle or book it into Melbourne, open Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00. You won't be left with a temporary repair you didn't know about.
Booking a visit
Give us the registration, what was found, where the vehicle is parked and how we get in, and when it needs to be back in service. Advisories from the last inspection can be booked in the same way for a day the vehicle is standing anyway.
