Running vehicles out of Long Eaton means running them towards two cities and across county lines. The town is part of the Nottingham Urban Area yet sits in Derbyshire, with Nottinghamshire on its border and Leicestershire close by, and the M1, A52 and A50 open up a lot of ground from there. Keeping track of service dates, PMI intervals, walkaround defects and breakdowns for a fleet spread across all of that is a job in itself. A maintenance contract takes it off your desk.
How the arrangement works
We agree the scope with you first. For most operators that means servicing to the manufacturer's schedule, PMI safety inspections at the intervals on your operator licence, annual test preparation, mobile repairs at your premises and the 24/7 breakdown and recovery line, all under one agreement. Every vehicle's services and inspections are planned in advance, so nothing relies on someone remembering a date.
Planned work takes place either at our workshop at Calke Mill Farm, Melbourne, off junction 3 of the A50, or at your own site in Long Eaton, depending on which costs you less time. Defects found at inspections or on drivers' walkaround checks are repaired and written up.
Knowing the vehicle before it breaks
When a contract vehicle stops on the M1 or the A52, the technician who comes out is from the same team that services it. They are not meeting the vehicle for the first time at the roadside, and a fault that keeps coming back is recognised as a pattern and fixed properly, not patched again.
Paperwork for DVSA
Operators are expected to stick to their inspection intervals and keep proper maintenance records. Under a contract, each visit is recorded, each defect is logged alongside what was done about it, and the file is ready when DVSA, or your own transport manager, asks to see it. That protects your OCRS score.
Fleets of any mix
Vans and HGVs, trailers, coaches and minibuses, light commercials and specialist or emergency-service vehicles can all be covered together. Whether you run a handful of vans or a mixed fleet, ring us and we will say what would suit it.
Switching over
Changing provider should not leave a gap. Tell us when each vehicle is next due for its inspection and service, share your recent records if you have them, and we take the schedule on from there. Call 01332 916028 with the number and type of vehicles you run from Long Eaton and how you manage maintenance now. Fleet customers are set up on account.
