Three main roads, three different problems
Long Eaton has three major roads on its doorstep. Junction 25 of the M1 lies on its north-western border, and the A52 Brian Clough Way passes through that junction at Sandiacre on its way between Derby and Nottingham. On the Derby side, the westbound A52 meets the Pentagon roundabout at grade, and the rush-hour queues there can be severe. South of the Trent, the A50 is built close to motorway standard but without hard shoulders, and its first junction is signed for Long Eaton and Sawley.
That last point matters. A lorry or coach that stops on the A50 has no hard shoulder to roll onto, so getting the driver and any passengers off the carriageway and somewhere safe comes before anything else. On the M1 the same applies to anyone stranded in a live lane. Ring 01332 916028 once everyone is clear, not while standing beside the vehicle.
Tell us exactly where you are
On these roads the location is half the job. Give us the road, the direction of travel and the nearest junction or marker post: northbound or southbound on the M1, eastbound or westbound on the A52 or the A50. In town a street name will do. The A6005 forms the main road through Long Eaton, and the High Street and Market Place have been pedestrianised since the 1990s, so a delivery vehicle that fails nearby may be sitting in a loading area rather than on the road itself. Tell us what the vehicle is, whether it is loaded and what it is doing, and we can send the right help first time.
Repair on the spot, recover when we must
We head out planning to fix the vehicle where it is. Air leaks, electrical faults, tyre damage and fuel or starting problems are often sorted at the roadside by a technician carrying the right tools and parts, which is the quickest way back to work.
If it is not safe or not possible to repair it there, we recover it with equipment suited to heavy commercial vehicles, either to our workshop at Calke Mill Farm, Melbourne, which sits off the A50 at junction 3, or to your own yard if your fitters prefer.
First call, any operator
You do not need to be an existing customer. We take breakdown calls from operators who have never used us before, payment by card is accepted on the day, and fleets can be set up on account once the vehicle is moving again. The line is staffed every day of the year, bank holidays included.
