Running a fleet in Leicester
Leicester has the second largest economy in the East Midlands, and a large share of it moves on wheels. Food producers, clothing businesses, distributors, engineering firms, retailers and bus and coach operators all run vehicles out of the city and the towns around it. A fleet based in the city usually works the places around it as well, from Oadby, Wigston and Blaby to Enderby, Birstall and Syston, so its maintenance has to suit vehicles spread across all of them.
What most of those operators share is that maintenance is not their business. Tracking service dates, inspection intervals, test dates and who to ring at night takes time away from the work that pays.
What changes on a contract
A maintenance contract hands that job to us. We agree the scope with you, then plan the calendar for every vehicle: services at the manufacturer's intervals, PMI inspections at the intervals on your operator licence with braking performance assessed each time, and preparation before each annual test. You see the plan in advance, and nothing relies on someone remembering.
Planned visits to our Melbourne workshop are arranged so each vehicle makes as few trips up the M1 as possible. Smaller jobs, especially defects from drivers' walkaround checks, are often better done by a mobile technician at your Leicester yard, overnight or between shifts. We use whichever keeps the vehicle earning.
The same people at three in the morning
Breakdown cover can sit inside the same agreement. When one of your vehicles stops on the M69, the A46 or a city street, you ring 01332 916028 and the person who answers works alongside the team that maintains it. Its history is already known, and a fault that keeps returning is spotted as a pattern rather than patched once more.
Records that stand up
DVSA expects an operator to show its maintenance, not just do it. On a contract, each inspection, defect and repair is written up as it happens, so the paperwork for your files is already in order when it is asked for.
Mixed fleets and switching over
A Leicester fleet is rarely just trucks. Vans, minibuses, coaches, trailers and specialist vehicles can all sit under one agreement. If you are moving from another provider, send us the next due dates and your recent inspection records and we will take over the schedule without a gap. Contract customers are set up on account. Ring 01332 916028 to talk it through.
