Long Eaton is well connected for passengers. Buses run from the town to Nottingham, Beeston, Stapleford, Sandiacre, Derby, East Midlands Airport and Coalville, the station sits on the Midland Main Line, and the M1, A52 and A50 are all close at hand. For a coach or minibus operator, that can mean vehicles working a mix of town stops, airport runs and motorway miles, sometimes all in one day.
If a coach stops with people on board
A failed coach or minibus is first and foremost a passenger problem. Ring 01332 916028 and tell us where the vehicle is and how many people are on board. Get the vehicle as far from moving traffic as you can with the hazards on. On a motorway, or on the A50 where there are no hard shoulders, passengers should leave on the side away from the traffic and wait behind the barrier unless staying on board is the safer option. Keep everyone together, and let your office know so they can arrange onward travel if it is needed. We will advise the driver while our technician is on the way, and repair at the roadside wherever that can be done safely.
Maintenance at Melbourne
Coaches and minibuses use the same lifts as the HGVs at our workshop at Calke Mill Farm, off junction 3 of the A50. Servicing follows the manufacturer's schedule and pays particular attention to what passengers rely on, from the brakes, air system and steering to the heating, the lights and the drivetrain. PMI inspections and annual test preparation for passenger vehicles are carried out to the same standards we apply to goods vehicles, with brake performance assessed each time.
The repairs passenger vehicles need most
Air and brake faults, electrical and lighting faults, engine warnings and derates, clutch and gearbox problems, cooling faults and steering and suspension wear make up most of our coach and minibus work. We diagnose before we replace, and we tell you what we found in plain terms.
Heating and visibility
Passengers notice a cold coach. Drivers and DVSA notice a windscreen that won't clear. A heater or demister fault is a safety issue as well as a comfort one, so it is worth checking heating and ventilation before winter along with lights and batteries.
Planning around your bookings
Every passenger operator has busy periods when a vehicle off the road costs the most. Let us know your quieter weeks and we will slot servicing and inspections into them. Mixed fleets of coaches, minibuses, vans and trucks can share one maintenance contract.
Booking
Planned work runs Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00. Ring 01332 916028 to book, or at any hour if a vehicle has broken down.
