Making a Melbourne workshop work for a Sheffield fleet
It is a long run down the M1 from Sheffield to our workshop at Melbourne in South Derbyshire, and any contract we offer a Sheffield operator has to respect that. So we design it the other way round from a local workshop deal: the work comes to your vehicles wherever it can, and the vehicles come to us only when the job truly needs a workshop.
Day to day, that means a mobile technician at your yard dealing with walkaround defects, lighting and wiring faults, air leaks, inspection advisories and smaller repairs. Workshop visits for heavier work and lifts-only jobs are put in the calendar well in advance, so each vehicle makes the trip as seldom as possible and on a day you have chosen.
What the agreement covers
The scope is agreed with you. Most contracts combine servicing to the manufacturer's schedule, PMI inspections at your operator licence intervals with braking performance checked every time, preparation for each annual test, mobile repairs, and 24/7 breakdown and recovery. Each vehicle has a planned calendar, and every visit is recorded for your maintenance files.
Sheffield fleets come in every shape
The city's economy covers a lot of ground: steel and advanced manufacturing in the Lower Don Valley and at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, retail on the scale of Meadowhall and Crystal Peaks, a public sector employing tens of thousands of people, and bus and coach operators from the largest down to community transport. Roughly a third of the city lies inside the Peak District National Park, so a Sheffield fleet can find itself on rural lanes as well as the Parkway. A single contract can cover HGVs, trailers, coaches, minibuses, vans and specialist or emergency-service vehicles, however mixed the fleet is.
Breakdowns, handled by people who know the fleet
When a contract vehicle stops on the M1 at Tinsley, on the ring road or out towards the Peak District, ring 01332 916028. The call goes to the team that maintains it, so its service history and any recurring faults are already known, and a problem that keeps coming back gets tracked down instead of patched.
Compliance you can show
DVSA expects operators to keep to their inspection intervals and to be able to prove it. On a contract, inspections are booked before they fall due, defects are recorded with the action taken, and the records are in order when anyone asks.
Switching over
Tell us how many vehicles you run, where they are kept in Sheffield and when each is next due for a service and an inspection. Share recent inspection records if you have them and we will pick up the schedule without leaving gaps. Fleet customers are set up on account.
