Two kinds of Leicester mileage
A vehicle based in Leicester can lead two very different lives. One rigid spends the day crawling between drops in the city centre, round the ring roads and out to Oadby, Wigston and Beaumont Leys, braking and pulling away hundreds of times. Another unit leaves on the M69 for Coventry or the A46 for Newark and holds a steady speed for most of its shift. Both might show a similar figure on the odometer when the service falls due, but they have not worn in the same way.
That is why we don't service by mileage alone. We begin with the maker's schedule, then look at what the vehicle actually does. The city vehicle tends to need closer attention to brakes, clutch, suspension and cooling; the motorway vehicle to tyres, the drivetrain and long-run electrics. Your service plan should reflect that, and we will set it up that way.
Bringing it to Melbourne
Our workshop is at Calke Mill Farm, Ashby Road, Melbourne, a short run from junction 23a of the M1. Leicester's junctions, 21, 21A and 22, are on the same motorway, so a planned visit is an easy run north for the driver. We take booked work Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 17:00, and we will offer a slot that sits around your busy days rather than in the middle of them.
While the vehicle is with us, the work takes in oils, filters and fluids, belts and hoses, the brake and air system, steering, suspension, wheels, lighting and the charging system, all in line with the manufacturer's requirements. Anything worn but not yet urgent goes on the job sheet as an advisory, with our honest view of how long it can wait, so the next visit can be planned instead of forced on you.
One visit instead of two
If the PMI falls due around the same time as the service, there is no sense in sending the vehicle to Melbourne twice. We line the two up wherever the intervals allow, which keeps a Leicester vehicle away from its work for one day rather than two.
Before the weather turns
Operators running early starts out of Leicester through the winter know what cold mornings do to weak batteries, starters and fuel systems. A pre-winter service is the moment to test charging and batteries, check heaters and lighting, and deal with anything that has been borderline. The summer equivalent is the cooling system. Getting both done on a planned day causes far less disruption than finding the fault at six in the morning in a frozen yard.
