Bus services link Burton upon Trent with Derby, Tutbury, Rough Hay, Uttoxeter, Lichfield and Tamworth, and one of the town's operators runs most of its school services. Add Queen's Hospital, Burton & South Derbyshire College in the town centre, St George's Park National Football Centre and the Pirelli Stadium, and there are plenty of reasons for a coach or minibus to be on Burton's roads. When one of those vehicles fails, it is not a load that waits. It is a group of people.
Passengers first when one stops
If a coach or minibus breaks down, ring 01332 916028 and tell us how many people are on board and exactly where the vehicle is. The driver's priority is to get clear of moving traffic with the hazards on and keep everyone together, well away from the carriageway. On the A38 that means passengers out on the side away from the traffic and behind the barrier, unless staying aboard is safer. Let your own office know too, so onward travel can be sorted if it is needed. We talk the driver through it while our technician is on the way, and repair at the roadside wherever that is safe and possible.
Planned work at Melbourne
Coaches and minibuses go up on the same lifts as HGVs at our workshop at Calke Mill Farm. We service them to the manufacturer's schedule and look after the systems passenger work depends on: brakes and air, steering and suspension, electrics and lighting, heating and cooling, and the drivetrain. Safety inspections and annual test preparation follow the same standard as our goods vehicle work, with brake performance assessed every time and defects fixed and recorded before sign-off.
Heaters, demisters and dark mornings
School runs start early, and in the colder months a heater or demister that isn't working properly is more than an annoyance. A windscreen that won't clear is a visibility hazard, and DVSA takes the driver's view seriously. Checking heating and ventilation alongside lights and batteries before winter saves a lot of cold-start calls.
Fitting work around your timetable
Every passenger operator has busy spells, and term time, match days and peak seasons are the wrong moment for a vehicle to be off the road. Tell us your quieter weeks and we will plan servicing and inspections into them wherever we can. If your fleet also runs vans or trucks, they can share the same maintenance contract.
Booking
Planned work is booked by phone on 01332 916028 and carried out Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:00. The breakdown line on the same number never closes.
